Data Publication in LinguRep

Lingurep Data Ingest Step by Step

Before the actual transfer of the data, initial contact is made with the LinguRep team. In a preliminary discussion, options, conditions, and perspectives are discussed. From there, the concrete path to publication in LinguRep is simple and transparent:

1. Deposit Agreement

Basic information on data type, scope, structure, and usage rights is discussed with the LinguRep team. A deposit agreement is concluded that clarifies rights, obligations, and accessibility.

2. Data Preparation

In coordination with the LinguRep team, files are formatted, metadata is created, and meaningful documentation is prepared to ensure that the data is comprehensible and reusable.

3. Data Transfer

The data is transferred to the LinguRep team via physical storage media or a secure transmission method. Details regarding the structure and organization of the dataset are discussed.

4. Review and Quality Assurance

The LinguRep team carefully reviews all data, metadata, and documentation: are the data complete, well described, and technically sound? If necessary, changes or additions to the data and metadata are suggested.

5. Publication

After successful review, data, metadata, and documentation are published in the repository. Each dataset receives a persistent identifier (PID) and is archived for the long term. In addition, the datasets are registered in interdisciplinary catalogs and directories. The data is thus made openly available to the scientific community — on a permanent basis, citable, and easy to find.

Further information can be found in the information on the Terms and Conditions and the FAQs.

Preservation plan

With the ingest of the data into LinguRep, it is ensured that the data will be preserved for at least 30 years. For this purpose, technical adjustments may be required to ensure that the data remains readable and usable. This includes, for example, conversion to new data formats or adaptation to new metadata standards. The intellectual integrity of the data is preserved throughout this process. The preservation plan is legally underpinned by the Deposit Agreement and the cooperation agreement with Marburg University Library.
